Lovecraft Country Season 1 Ending Explained: Tic will Return in Season 2, Release Date & More

The creator of historical drama Underground returned with yet another mind-blowing story this year, but in form of a supernatural horror drama, Lovecraft Country. Jurnee Smollett and Jonathan Majors star in the ten-episode series which started airing August 16, 2020, and ended just recently on October 18, 2020. The series has been receiving somewhat positive reviews from the viewers and success and the actors are confident to return for the second seaosn.

Lovecraft Country Season 2 Release Date

As of now, nothing is solid from the side of producers and production company. The showrunner, Misha Green also doesn’t have a clear idea regarding the future of the show. She had an interview with Deadline and mentioned that she is still unaware about the second season. ven though there isn’t any solid confirmation, it is likely that we may have the second season in near future.

Now, its all depend on HBO, whether they decide to renew the horror television series or not. But for the moment, they will probably take some time and analyze the viewing numbers. positive reviews and popularity. If all things go well and HBO decides to renew the series, then we can expect season 2 in late 2021.

Lovecraft Country Season 1 Storyline

Misha Green has done brilliant work in bringing Matt Ruff’s phenomenal work as a popular TV show. Apart from the supernatural horror element, the show primarily features racism and black exploitation. The show also depicts various historical events like the 1921 Tulsa race massacre and death of Emmett Till. The horror elements in the series are taken from the brain of popular horror (also racist) writer, H. P. Lovecraft.

Atticus Freeman and Letitia Lewis with Freeman’s uncle George embarks on a journey across the racist 1950s to discover the dark secrets about Freeman’s missing father. They eventually come in conflict with the mysterious group, the Sons of Adam while fighting and struggling in the segregated 1950s the Jim Crow era. The protagonist not only have to fight against the supernatural monsters but also the violent racist white Americans.

Since the season features horror, chills, supernatural elements, and blood, one can surely expect many characters might have died. Atticus, Letitia, and Montrose travel back in history, during the time of the Tulsa race massacre to retrieve the Book of Names to defeat Christina. Christina is on the verge of achieving immortality on the autumnal equinox.

The trio successfully convinces Tic’s mother and grandmother to hand them Book of Names and promises to safeguard her family. They then return to 1955 in Ardham, but it is too late, as Christina slices Atticus for the blood. However, with his death, Ji-Ah connects him with Christina through her Kumiho tentacles. Letitia spell also works, thanks to Atticus’s sacrifice and she snatches all the magic from white people. This includes Christina, as well.

Atticus is dead

Atticus knew from the beginning that he is going to die. While he was dying, he asks his father Montrose to act as a father for his and Leti’s unborn baby. Meanwhile, evil Christina is trapped inside the rubble and shortly after Dee crushes her to death with her new mechanical arm.

However, since the show has a supernatural element, Atticus may not completely die. Some kind of sorcery and spell could potentially resurrect him.
