We all love waking up to a warm cup of coffee. The soothing effect it provides relaxes our body and calms our mind. coffee is considered both, a cure for laziness and a source of body problems. But, it does not come without some really bad side effects like insomnia, anxiety, nausea, restlessness, digestive problems, acidity, etc. even though Consuming coffee in small or moderate amounts does little or no harm, but high caffeine consumption can have devastating effects on your physical and mental functioning as It releases adrenaline in our bloodstream and energizes our body, and excess of it is harmful to our body.

Caffeine is the most popularly used psychoactive substance, consumed in large amounts by almost all the generations, especially the youngsters and early middle age people, and drinking coffee becomes a part of their routine. We see students consuming coffee, in order to remain active throughout the night so that they can study for a longer duration of time as it acts as a stimulant and activates the Central Nervous System and helps in counteracting tiredness, sleepiness and improves our focus and attention.

Research shows that consuming more than 300 mg of caffeine per day can increase the risks during pregnancy. Some people become addicted to caffeine and their daily life tasks start revolving around it, and once they develop a tolerance to it, they need to consume it more in order to feel the calming effects. excessive consumption of coffee leads to disturbed sleeping patterns, hampers neurological development. Research shows that people who drink more than 4 cups of coffee per day, are prone to poorer health and eventually an early death.

Research states that 64% of Americans drink coffee and 53.51 % of Indians drink coffee. Some people even say that coffee is America’s favorite drug. The side effects of coffee majorly depend on individual factors, like genetics, lifestyle, environment, and the culture of the individual.

We need to know these ill effects of consuming coffee and reduce and restrict its consumption as much as possible.
