MARVEL FAMILY JOINED BY THIS YOUNG PUERTO RICAN DIRECTOR, PROJECT YET UNKNOWN

Director Alejandra López is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

López posted the news on her Facebook account, writing that her next project will take her to Burbank. She shared a photo of herself in a studio with the Marvel logo displayed above her.

It is unclear which project she has been hired to direct. All the upcoming films already have directors attached. Such as Black Panther 2, Captain Marvel 2, Guardians of the Galaxy 3, and Ant-Man 3. The only other film without a director that has been officially announced is Blade. X-Men and The Fantastic Four reboots were teased at the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con. On the TV, only Moon Knight and the Nick Fury series are missing showrunners.

Alejandra is best known for directing the short film The Blue Cape and has also directed the shorts Fulano and ADDitude. Lopez wrote The Blue Cape and Fulano, as well as an episode of StartUp. She has also acted a bit. She appeared in Good News, Presumed Dead in Paradise, El Florista, Mi Princesa, and the TV series short The Inspectors.

López joins Marvel’s list of diverse directors. If she was signed for a movie, she would be Marvel’s fifth female director.
