A history teacher had opened a discussion regarding the caricatures of Islam’s Prophet Muhammad with their students. She was shot dead on a street in France. The police say they have found the suspected killer and shot him dead. This happened on Friday, October 16th.
The French anti-terrorism prosecutor opened an investigation regarding the murder. This investigation was opened with a suspected murderer in mind, who has now been shot dead. However, it is suspected that the person who is shot dead had a terrorist motive. This gruesome murder happened in a middle school in Paris, France. The town where the murder happened is called Conflans-Sainte-Honorine. However, the suspect was killed by police in adjoining Eragny. Both the towns are located in the Val d’Oise region, northwest of Paris.
The President of the country of France was visiting the school. Due to this reason, the area around the school was sealed off. The school was surrounded by heavily armed police and police vans. Emergency vehicles also lined leafy adjacent streets. All of this information was given by a press reporter who was at the scene.
Who Was The Suspect?
The identity of the subject was not made public due to multiple reasons. However, there were a few details that were revealed by the French media. It is said that the suspect was an 18-year old Chechen. They were born in Moscow, Russia. However, this information is not confirmed.
The best that can be done is being done by France. France is offering asylums to many other Chechen’s. They have started offering asylums since the Russian military war against the Islamist Separatists. The war happened in the early 1990s and the early 2000s. However, there are Chechen communities scattered all around France.
France, however, has pretty good control in regards to its terrorist attacks. However, in the recent few months, the world has seen occasional violence in France. The violence was seen in the Dijon region, the Mediterranean city of Nice, and the western town of Saint-Dizier, all of which are believed linked to local criminal activity.
When Did The Attack Happen?
The attack happened as Macron pushed for a new law against what he called “domestic” separatism. It is no secret that France has a large Muslim population. In fact, it is the largest in Western Europe. It has about 5 million members, and Islam is the countries 2nd religion.
A police officer revealed that the suspect was armed with a knife and an airsoft gun. The airsoft gun is known to fire plastic pellets. The suspect was shot dead after he was just 600 meters away from where the male teacher was killed. He (suspect) was shot dead after he failed to respond to orders to put down his arms and acted in a threatening manner instead.
The teacher had received threats after opening a discussion “for debate” about the caricatures about 10 days ago. The police officials informed The Associated Press. The parent of a student allegedly had filed a complaint against the teacher. Another police official said, “adding that the suspected killer did not have a child at the school.”
