Exynos 1080- Samsung’s new flagship processor- Here is all the details

Samsung has announced a new flagship processor Exynos 1080. It is going to be the industry’s first A78 chip based processor. And, rumors are that Samsung Galaxy A72 is going to be using this chip.

Samsung’s Exynos 1080 will be using Samsung’s own 5nm LPE process. It will also use ARM’s latest Cortex-A78 and Cortex-A55 dua;-cluster CPU architecture. And the GPU will be ARM’s latest Mali-G78.

It is also reported that the processor’s CPU performance is increased by 20%, and the GPU performance by 25%. AnTuTu’s points will most probably tie-up with the current Snapdragon 865 plus.

Samsung will be releasing Exynos 1080 later this year. Apart from Samsung A72, there are also reports that a VIVO phone will also be having this chip inside. But, which one is going to be the first to use it, that we don’t know.

Some retail stores in China are already advertising Vivo X60. Calling it as the flagship in the field of imaging. But, apart from this, there is no other information available about X60.

Samsung’s Exynos processors have failed to impress

The recent Exynos chip from Samsung hasn’t been great. They have significantly lacked behind from their Snapdragon counterparts. Their current flagship processor, Exynos 990 is used in S20 and Note 20 series of phones. These same series of phones are also sold with Qualcomm’s processor. And when compared side-by-side, the Exynos models are significantly underpowered. So, it is very important for Samsung to make their new Exynos processors better. And let’s hope the Exynos 1080 doesn’t fail to impress like it’s predecessors.
