A Newly Built Vehicle By GSRE Commissioned on Wednesday 

 

‘ICGS’, a vessel built by Graden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Limited, has been commissioned. This has taken the organization’s delivery count to 105. The Kanaklata Barua was commissioned via video conferencing. By additional secretary. Ministry of Defence. Other ex-navy officers too were present at the online ceremony. These were, Rear Admiral VK Saxena (retd) and Commodore Sanjeev Nayyar (retd). Other than them many other senior officials too were present.

The ceremony was held online to ensure safety against COVID-19. Many such ceremonies are either held online. Otherwise serious social distancing measures. This is being done in a view to restrict the spread of COVID-19.

Details of The Vehicle

These Fast Patrol Vehicles are medium-range surface vehicles. Their length stands at 50 metres. Whereas their width stands at 7.5m. Their displacement is around 308T. They are extremely fuel-efficient which serves in the best interest of the Navy. The key operations they can perform range from anti-smuggling to anti-poaching ones. Their maximum speed stands at 34 knots. Their endurance is roughly 1500 nautical miles. The vehicle is has a 40/60 gun and water jet units. These have been integrated perfectly in the vehicle.

It seems to be a complete vehicle and will work wonders for us. Its fuel efficiency and relatively medium size will also help in cutting costs. Such a boat is the need of the hour for us.
