Two Killed, 14 Injured, During Attack In New York’s Rochester; No Information On Motive, And No Information On The Culprit Says Local Police

On Saturday, early on gunfire in a backyard killed two, and injured fourteen in Rochester, New York. “As many as hundred people were at the party just before the shooting took place. The shooting took place at 12:30 AM. This information was given to the reporters by the Acting Police Chief Mark Simmons.

Two teenagers or people who were in their early 20’s were killed during the shooting. Fourteen people were also injured, which was a result of a mass shooting. The shooting took place on Pennsylvania Avenue around 12:25 a.m. ET, according to authorities. A minimum 40 rounds were fired, police said.

The party started out as an invite-only party, but it eventually grew into the double its size when who nearby parties infiltrated the house. Captain Frank Umbino said, “Around three or four people had handguns.”

Were The Victims The Intended Target?

During a visit to the neighbourhood on Saturday, Mayor Lovely Warren said “A number of our young people — babies — that came to just hang out a little while … left running for their lives. And that’s just something that we cannot have happen.” With this statement, it has been confirmed that Jaquayla and Jarvis were not the intended targets. It is also said that the owners of the house were not the target as well.

So far, the police have not identified any suspects.

A traumatized host of the party said, “invited a couple friends over, who invited a couple friends over who invited a couple friends over.” and it all went out of control.

Rules And Regulations Regarding The Coronavirus

The party had taken place despite several restrictions regarding the lockdown. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the city had told the residents to avoid any and all social gatherings to household members and not to gather in groups. Additionally, from July,  the city has banned gatherings of more than five people from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. to curb what the city said was a rise in violence.

The police were not aware of the party beforehand, and neither did they receive any calls of disturbance from the nearby residents.

Current Scenario

The police officers are still interviewing the suspects and everyone who was at the party. So far, they have found no leads. They’re also trying to learn how the shooting started, and least more about the suspects. They’re also looking through the video footage.

“It’s going to be a very tedious and long process,” Umbrino said. “We need people to come forward and give us what we need to hold those responsible.”

It is still unclear what started the shooting, but regardless of what caused the killers to pull out the guns, it escalated ‘rather quickly.’ The house party was meant to be a small one, but slowly grew over 200 attendees when people from the nearby parties started to infiltrate.

Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren issued a statement asking for “prayers and support for all involved.” to this statement she also added by saying “I’m begging everyone to remain calm and exercise deep restraint as RPD investigates what happened here and seeks those responsible.”
