The American President Donald Trump Vows To Nominate Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s Replacement Just Hours After Her Death

Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the second female judge of the Supreme court died on Friday at 87 years old. She dies just over six weeks before the US Presidential elections. Due to the upcoming elections, President Trumps Democratic opponent, Joe Biden, insists that the nomination of the new Supreme Court judge be held off until after the election.

When President Donald Trump revealed that he will be replacing the newly deceased former judge of the supreme court, this escalated a political row over who her successor will be. The ideological balance of the nine-member court is very crucial to the laws of the United States. More importantly, it is very crucial to the rulings on the most important laws of the United States.

However, President Donald Trump has sworn that he will nominate her successor. He stated the words “without delay.” This has infuriated the Democrats, who fear the Republicans will vote to lock in a decades-long conservative majority on the country’s highest court.

President Donal Trump spoke a few words about this matter. He said “I will be putting forth a nominee next week. It will be a woman.” Mr Trump said at a campaign rally in Fayetteville, North Carolina on Saturday. He also gave us a reason as to why he will nominate a female. He said, “I think it should be a woman because I actually like women much more than men.”

What Is The Row About?

Appointment of judges in the US is a very political act. The President chooses who he/she wants to put forward. Later on, the Senate votes on the selected choice. Based on the votes, the judge gets selected or rejected.

Ruth Ginsburg, who served for 27 years was one of the only four liberals on a nine-seat bench. Her death ultimately means that the Republicans should get the vote, though the balance of power will ultimately shift towards the conservatives.

President Trump has already chosen over two Supreme Cort judges over the term of his presidency. Keeping this in mind, he is well aware of the fact that getting his nominee would give conservatives control over key decisions for decades to come. Meaning, the judges of the supreme court can serve for the rest of their lives, until they themselves decide to retire.

“We were put in this position of power and importance to make decisions for the people who so proudly elected us, the most important of which has long been considered to be the selection of United States Supreme Court Justices. We have this obligation, without delay!.” President Trump wrote on Twitter on Saturday.

Chuck Schumer, the Senate Democratic leader posted a tweet repeating his exact phrase. Meanwhile, Mr Biden told reporters: “There is no doubt – let me be clear – that the voters should pick the president and the president should pick the justice for the Senate to consider.”

Days before her death, Ginsburg had also made her feelings extremely clear in a statement she wrote to ger grandaughter. The statement read; “My most fervent wish is that I will not be replaced until a new president is installed.”
