There was a mass shooting in New York at an outdoor backyard party at around early morning hours on Saturday. More than 14 people suffered gunshot injuries, local officials and witnesses say. Emergency services came into the scene immediately.
When and Where?
The shooting broke out at around 12:30 a.m. on Saturday. The local authorities received information about it from the nearby area near Goodman Street and Pennsylvania Avenue. They did not waste any more time and rushed to the scene.
The house party was unsanctioned. And also it violated the local laws which prevent large gatherings due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Two people were confirmed dead on the spot. Primary reports say that at least 12 people have sustained gunshot wounds. The final victims’ list is yet to be confirmed by the police.
Who is the person or group responsible for this?
What and who initiated this attack? Who is the person who is in charge? Unfortunately, we do not know all these details yet. As of now, nobody is arrested. Rochester interim Police Chief Mark Simmons said that the police are still carrying out the investigation. They are toiling hard in collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses. The Rochester Police Department said, “Additional individuals were hospitalized for injuries sustained while attempting to flee the area.”
He further added, “The extent of the injuries from the hospitalized gunshot victims are still being tallied. But all are currently believed to be in stable condition”.
At first, the identity of the dead victims was not yet disclosed. It was just said that they are a man and a woman aged between 18 and 22.
The remaining 14 injured victims have been admitted into either Strong Memorial Hospital or Rochester General Hospital for treatment for their injuries. The distressed loved ones of the wounded are currently rushing to the scene and the hospitals.
Reportedly, as mentioned before a college house party was taking place in the area. Terre Haute Police Chief Shawn Keen revealed that Valentina Delva, 18 years old, was declared dead there by 1:55 a.m. The other fatality is yet to be confirmed.
