Amazon’s new innovation towards home security: Welcome the Blink Cameras

Amazon recently inaugurated a duo of Blink security cameras namely the Blink Indoor Wireless Security Camera and Blink Outdoor Wireless Security Camera on Wednesday.

Founded in 2009, Blink is a home security automation company that was later acquired by Amazon in the month of December in 2017.

The Amazing features of the Amazon Blink Cameras

The Blink Outdoor camera is the most resilient. The camera can endure temperatures as low as -40 F and as high as 1130 F and also, it is impervious to water.

Here is another fascinating fact. It gives you a full 1080p HD stream of whatever is happening within a field of view of 1100.

A two-way audio is also inculcated in the camera. This means that you can directly connect/communicate via the camera. With IR vision, the camera can also record the video at night or in the dark.

Compatible with Alexa

All of us know Amazon is just awesome. So, you can control your settings and other routines through Alexa. For instance, you can ask Alexa Echo Spot to show you the front door or the back door camera, and the footage will be displayed on the screen in your house.

To keep your phone from flooding in motion detection alerts when you have placed the Blink cameras in high traffic areas, you can simply designate them as that in the Blink mobile app. This app is available for download on Google Play Store, App Store and the Amazon App Store.

You can also save your videos into Amazon Cloud by paying $3 per month per camera. You can even use USB drives and the included Blink Sync Modules. Plus, you can connect up to 10 Blink Cameras through the Blink Sync Module.

The prolonged life expectancy of the cameras

Like its ancestors, the Blink Cameras are fuelled by two lithium AA batteries. Apparently, Amazon says that they can last for two whole years. Now that is a point to be duly noted! The e-commerce tech giant confirmed that they will begin selling an extended battery pack for the Blink Cameras which contains not the usual two but four lithium AA batteries. Amazon says that these are enough to last four years of normal use. Though the battery packs are slightly costly each pack is $30 each but this prolonged battery life will prove to be useful to the users in the long run.

You can pre-order both the models right now. The indoor camera costs $80 which includes the Blink Sync Module 2. The outdoor camera starts at $100 with the same package. The shipping will most likely start on September 16.
