Churchill Downs moved this year’s Kentucky Derby to 5th September — the first Saturday of September. The airing of the event will begin at 2:30 p.m. ET on Saturday from Louisville, Kentucky, the U.S. For the first time in race’s history, Churchill Downs will be fanless and very few notable spectators. What is the Kentucky Derby?

Simply put, the Kentucky Derby is one of the prestigious horse racing events in the US. This is the first leg out of three of the American Triple Crown, while the remaining are Preakness Stakes and the Belmont Stakes.

The Kentucky Derby generally takes place in the first Saturday of May, but 2020 Kentucky Derby has been delayed by four months. This is the second time in history after 1945’s edition that the date has been delayed. In the Kentucky Derby, only three-year-old Thoroughbreds are allowed to participate. The eligible horses first contest in the Race to the Kentucky Derby to qualify for the Kentucky Derby.
