Sony releases new A-mount to E-mount adapter: LA-EA5

Sony has announced a new lens adapter, LA-EA5 via a press release.

This new adapter from Sony allows you to use Sony A-mount lenses on E-mount mirrorless camera bodies without affecting your full lens performance. The adapter is a 35mm full-frame A-mount to E-mount adapter. This means that the new Sony LA-EA5 lens adapter allows you to pair E-mount camera bodies with an A-mount lens. And fear not, if you use a vertical grip, because this new adapter supports full-frame E-mount camera bodies even when vertical grip is attached.

The adapter maintains autofocus and auto-exposure. It supports in-camera correction features and is compatible with phase-detection AF. LA-EA5 supports features like Real-time tracking and Eye AF functions. Apart from all this, the camera also supports AF/AE tracking in burst modes.

The Sony LA-EA5 lens adapter is going to be priced at $249.99 and will be available from October 2020.

The models written below are the ones that are supported by the adapter as of now. Although, Sony has said that they would be working to expand its compatibility.

Sony a7 III, Sony a7R III, Sony a7R IV, Sony a9, Sony a9 II, Sony a7s III. Sony a6100, Sony a6400, and Sony a6600.
