OnePlus has been working on an entry-level smartphone, codenamed ‘Clover’. With this smartphone, OnePlus seems to be trying to provide a more affordable option than the recently launched OnePlus Nord.
Design:
There’s no word of how the Clover will look like, but we expect it to be in-line with the other range of OnePlus smartphones.
Based on reports, the Clover is said to feature a 6.52-inch-HD+ LCD display. Although, OLED would have been appreciated. A punch-hole display or a water-drop notch display, can be expected.
The sim tray and a C-type USB charging socket could be placed at the bottom.
A triple-camera setup similar to the OnePlus Nord would complete the overall package.
Software:
A Snapdragon 460 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage is said to be offered; a move to keep the costs in check. Apparently, the internal storage can be extended via an external memory card, as 64GB seems very low in today’s age. The operating system of the Clover is said to be OxygenOS 10, based on Android 10.
However, the most important aspect of the Clover is a rumoured 6000mAh battery. This even overshadows OnePlus’ current flagship, the OnePlus 8 Pro. An 18W fast charging option is expected.
Through the lens:
A 13MP main sensor, a 2MP macro sensor, and a 2MP depth sensor is expected at the rear. The specifications of the front camera is unknown, but a 16MP shooter is expected. Going by history, the Clover should offer best-in-class camera experience.
Highlights:
The OnePlus Clover could well be a blockbuster in the affordable range of smartphones. A captivating software coupled with a massive battery is a perfect recipe for the segment.
With a sub-$200 price, which roughly translates to sub- Rs. 15000 INR, the OnePlus Clover makes a compelling case for itself. The launch is expected in the latter part of 2020.
