Former President of India, Pranab Mukherjee DEAD at 84, After Suffering Septic Shock and Positive COVID19

The former president of India, Pranab Mukherjee, has passed away on Monday at the age of 84. He was admitted to the Army Research and Referral hospital after he suffered a shock on August 19. Mr. Mukherjee’s suffered a septic shock due to his underlying lung disease. He was also tested positive for the coronavirus.

The hospital issued a statement and claimed that the septic shock further deteriorated the health of the president. He had done brain surgery at the Army Hospital in New Delhi. The president’s son Abhijit Mukherjee tweeted shortly afterward and claimed that despite best efforts from the doctors and medical staff, they couldn’t save the veteran politician.

The hospital previously updated the medical condition on Saturday, August 30. He was kept in ventilator support as he was in a deep coma. His renal parameters showed some positive signs and improved, but also he continued to stay in a comatose state. Family members admitted him to the Army Hospital in Delhi Cantonment after he needed and emergency brain clot surgery.

The veteran politician was the senior member or leader of the Indian National Congress. He had served in several positions for the Government of India during his active political career. Mukherji, born in West Bengal, India, served as the Union Finance Minister before achieving the status of the 13th president of India. He held the office as the 13th President of India on 25 July 2012. The current president of India, Ram Nath Kovind, succeeded him as the president after Mukherji left the office on 25 July 2017.

Following his death, politicians from different parties offered condolences on his death. The prime minister of India, Narendra Modi, also tweeted on Monday and wrote that all the sections of the society admired Mukherji. President Ram Nath Kovind tweeted that the country has lost another worthiest son.
