Monster Hunter World: Iceborne
Monster Hunter World: Iceborne is an expansion pack for the critically acclaimed Capcom game, Monster Hunter World, and here I am going to tell you whether it’s any good or not. But before we start with the Iceborne expansion pack, let’s look back at the main game.
Monster Hunter World
Capcom’s Monster Hunter: World is an action role-playing game. It was released for PS4 and Xbox One in January 2018. Monster Hunter: World requires you to kill mythical monsters to progress in the game. You kill monsters to protect yourself, you kill monsters to study them or you can just kill them for some very absurd reason like getting a hat it’s your wish. The beauty of the game and also the hard work of the developers lie in the monsters. They are gorgeous to look at and are also highly intelligent. They aren’t like normal game characters. They have a personality of their own. You can spend hours just observing them and you won’t be bored. Monster Hunter: World also received very good reviews with most of the reputed websites rating it above 9. The game also won a lot of awards including the game of the year award at Japan Game Awards.
Monster Hunter World: Iceborne
Monster Hunter World: Iceborne is an expansion pack for Monster Hunter: World. It was released on September 6th, 2019 for consoles and on January 9th, 2020 for PC. To access this new DLC, you must have completed the story campaign from the main game and should have reached Hunter level 16. The Iceborne expansion is huge in size. It brings a completely new world filled with lots of new monsters. The gear, weapons, everything is now upgradable to a higher level.
Review
The Iceborne expansion is a brilliant addition to an already great game. The new monsters, region, story, etc. is very interesting. You know the thing I said earlier about wasting time with just observing the monsters, well that’s applicable here too. You can spend hours and hours by just following the monsters and you still won’t be bored. The new weapons look very cool and are also very handy in the battle. Monster Hunter World: Iceborne also received rave reviews from critics, which I don’t disagree with. If you are a fan of Monster Hunter Series or if you have played Monster Hunter World, this expansion is a must for you. It has all the elements that you love and also brings in some additional new touches to improve your experience.
However, I will mention that this game might not be for everyone. It doesn’t really concentrate much on the story and also it’s very tiring i.e. you have to do a lot of work like kill the monsters, get the parts, bring them back to the base, etc. But if these things aren’t an issue for you, then you are going to have a great time playing this game.
